With this acquisition, the company aims to strengthen its position as a provider of flexible demand management for energy suppliers. At the same time, the deal should enable electric car drivers to use ‘cheaper and cleaner energy’. However, no details were provided.

“The Jedlix team’s proven expertise and development center in Rotterdam expand our offering and empower our customers to transition to cheaper, cleaner charging,” said Devrim Celal, Kraken’s Chief Marketing & Flexibility Officer. Serge Subiron, CEO of Jedlix, added: “The global tech leader of the energy transition, and such an amazing team! Our mission as Jedlix was to enable zero emission and zero cost charging for millions of electric vehicles across all continents. Expanding it to all distributed energy resources in the home at the scale of Kraken is an exciting ambition for the new super-charged team of Kraken in the Netherlands!”

Jedlix itself specialises in intelligent and bidirectional charging solutions. According to the company, it has an ‘international catalogue of API integration agreements with manufacturers of electric vehicles and chargers as well as energy suppliers’. In the press release, Jedlix lists Renault, Polestar, Kia, Hyundai, Engie, Eneco, Vattenfall, EDF Luminus, Wien Energie, CKW, Next Energy, Yve, Easee, Zaptec, Go-E and Wallbox, among others.

Kraken, on the other hand, as part of Octopus Energy, is an AI-supported end-to-end platform that focuses on the digitalisation and transformation of utility companies. In addition to Octopus Energy, customers include EDF Energy, E.ON Next, Origin and Tokyo Gas.
