EKA Mobility to supply 250 electric buses to Nagpur
Hansa Vahan India Private Limited, a bus rental and transport service provider based in Mumbai (Maharashtra), will acquire 250 electric buses from EKA Mobility. The company offers buses on hire/rent for staff, public transport, and personal use, and it will supply EKA Mobility’s 250 electric buses to NMC, presumably on a long-term lease.
“This partnership with Nagpur Municipal Corporation marks another critical step towards India’s transition to clean energy mobility,” Rohit Srivastava, Chief Growth Officer, EKA Mobility, commented on the announcement of the order. “We are thrilled to be a part of Nagpur’s journey toward becoming one of India’s most sustainable cities,” he added.
The 250 electric buses in question measure 12 metres in length and feature air conditioning to combat Maharashtra’s hot weather. They can accommodate 65 passengers, 41 sitting and 24 standing. EKA Mobility hasn’t disclosed other main specifications like the range, charging time, performance, and gradability. EKA Mobility will keep them in optimum condition as part of an annual maintenance contract for the entire duration of the operation.
Just a month ago, EKA Mobility struck a deal with another Indian transport services provider, Skyline Motors, to supply electric buses. Skyline Motors ordered the EKA 9, a nine-metre model, with a seating capacity of 35 passengers, a 900 mm floor height, air conditioning, and a 200 kWh battery pack that delivers a range of 300 km. The company will deploy these electric buses on the Dehradun-Rishikesh route in the northern state of Uttarakhand, which is at a high altitude and typically experiences cooler weather compared to most other states.
EKA Mobility has supplied electric buses in the national capital Delhi and Maharashtra’s capital city, Pune, as well, for use at the airport. Additionally, the company supplies electric delivery vans to IKEA for its Indian operations.
