Lynk & Co brings first electric car to Europe with the 02
Some details about the Lynk & Co 02 have been public since the end of September from the Chinese registration application. The model, which is called the Z20 in China, uses Geely’s SEA2 platform, a version of the ‘Sustainable Experience Architecture’ (SEA) optimised for smaller vehicles, such as the Zeekr X, Smart #1 and #3 or the Volvo EX30.
According to the manufacturer, the five-door family electric vehicle focuses on user-friendliness and advanced software. The 02 represents an important milestone for Lynk & Co, as it is the first all-electric model that the company has marketed in Europe.
“The all-new 02 represents the next phase for Lynk & Co,” said Nicolas López Appelgren, CEO of Lynk & Co International. “We are expanding our business model, growing our product portfolio, and venturing into new markets. These strategic steps underscore Lynk & Co’s commitment to providing greater choice, flexibility, and access for our customers.”
The engine of the 02 has a power output of 200 kW, and acceleration from 0 to 100 kph is 5.5 seconds. Lynk & Co does not provide any information on the battery, but states a range of 445 kilometres for the ‘More’ equipment variant and 435 kilometres for the ‘Core’ version. The battery can be charged with a DC power of 150 kW and the charging time is said to be 30 minutes. However, it is not yet clear what charge level this refers to.
The dimensions are similar to its sister model, the Zeekr X.It is 4.46 metres long, 1.85 metres wide and 1.57 metres high. Lynk & Co refers to the 02 as a “Scandinavian design”, as it was developed in Lynk & Co’s global design studio in Gothenburg. The car was created in collaboration with drivers of the 01 plug-in hybrid SUV and the brand’s design and engineering teams. Customers contributed over 6,000 messages about the most desired features via the Co:lab function – one of Lynk & Co’s in-vehicle apps that allows users to provide digital feedback from inside the 01.
One interesting function on board is an interface for car sharing. The manufacturer writes: “96% of the time, cars stand still. We can change that by sharing. Coincidentally every 02 comes equipped with a sharing strap. Pull it to activate the built-in sharing feature (or simply use the app) and share your car with friends, family, and even strangers. It’s a small gesture that makes a big difference – and earns you some extra cash.” Lynk & Co then wants to provide the vehicles to car-sharing drivers via its own platform.
