Leapmotor unveils the B10 electric SUV
Despite celebrating its world premiere in the French capital, the carmaker kept most technical details under wraps. So, there is no information about the powertrain.
We know the B10 is a C-SUV aimed at global markets and will hit the road next year. It is built on the LEAP 3.5 architecture and is aimed at “tech-savvy, eco-conscious consumers looking for an electric vehicle that blends style, performance, and advanced technology.” The B10 will only be available as a battery-electric car. However, according to Car News China, a range-extender version (EREV) may follow at a later date.
Moreover, the B10 is said to be the “first of many upcoming models that will be launched as part of Leapmotor’s B-series,” as partner Stellantis writes in its press release. Two of them will launch starting in 2025. The carmaker told Chinese media that higher-end versions would be equipped with “Lidar and AI intelligent driving chips.”
“The B10 embodies our vision for an electric future—offering not only superior performance and smart connectivity, but also making that future accessible to consumers worldwide,” Zhu Jiangming, Founder of Leapmotor, said about the B10.
Jianshu Xin, CEO of Leapmotor International, added: “Leapmotor International may be a startup, but it’s a startup with two incredibly strong parents. One brings innovation and competitive pricing to the table, while the other—through our partnership with Stellantis—offers powerful global resources and an unmatched service infrastructure. Together, we are able to offer consumers products like the B10, which combine cutting-edge technology with affordability.”
According to Chinese media, the B10 will be available in China for as little as 100,000 yuan (about 13,000 euros). However, the carmaker does not mention a price tag in the official press release.
Leapmotor currently offers the C10 electric SUV and the smaller T03 in Europe, for which it opened the order books at the end of September. In addition to the B10, the Chinese carmaker – who partnered with Stellantis to form Leapmotor International – will also offer the C16 in Europe. The three-row SUV was presented in China in January. Thanks to its length of 4.92 metres and a wheelbase of 2.83 metres, the SUV offers plenty of space inside, with up to six seats in a 2+2+2 seating configuration.
The C16 has an 800-volt system and a DC charging capacity of up to 180 kilowatts so that the battery can be charged from 30 to 80 per cent in 15 minutes. It is characterised by “a clean exterior and a minimalist and premium interior design.” It also has the intelligent infotainment system Leapmotor OS 4.0 and a panoramic glass roof.
As mentioned above, the B10 will officially launch in 2025. However, it is not clear when exactly the EV will be made available (as is the case for the C16) or whether it will first be sold in China before coming to Europe.
