Citroën to offer all-electric C5 Aircross
The C5 Aircross Concept at the Citroen booth in Paris features several design elements common for show cars of this kind. It is unclear whether the strikingly designed rims, the extremely flared wheel arches or the flush-fitting door handles will make it into series production.
However, the C5 Aircross Concept features some elements that we will likely see in the future production model. For example, the concept bears the new Citroën design language with the redesigned logo and a headlight design that can already be seen on the ë-C3. The proportions with short overhangs, a slightly flattened hood, and the steep rear end for more space in the interior will probably not be changed either. “The design does away with the superfluous in favour of the essential, while emphasising the new brand identity and a modern feel,” Stellantis describes the new concept car. “With a length of 4.65m, it boasts unprecedented proportions and offers plenty of space on board.”
The car is based on the STLA Medium platform. For the technical data, looking at the Peugeot e-3008 or Opel Grandland Electric gives us some idea of what to expect. The top version will probably use a 97 kWh battery for a range of up to 700 kilometres. The carmaker will likely offer cheaper versions with 73- or 82-kWh batteries. The STLA Medium is a 400-volt architecture, so the Citroën will probably have to sit at the charger for a while. Even the 97-kWh battery can “only” be charged with up to 160 kW.
The brand’s new design language is also at the heart of the facelift of the ë-C4 and ë-C4 X series. The front end of both vehicles has been redesigned, and the new logo and brand identity have been integrated. “On the C4, the rear end has also evolved to deliver greater purity and substance, while the C4 X retains its already highly attractive fastback styling,” says Citroën.
There are no changes to the drive technology: There is still the familiar 100-kW electric motor combined with a 50-kWh battery, which provides a range of 355 WLTP kilometres in the ë-C4 and 360 kilometres in the ë-C4 X. The 115-kW drive with a 54-kWh battery is also available as an option, which increases the range to 415 (ë-C4) or 425 kilometres (ë-C4 X).
The brand also celebrated the four-year anniversary of the Ami at the Paris Motor Show. To this end, it gave a preview of a new front design, supposed to give the subcompact car a “more mature and friendly” look. This new generation is said to launch in 2025. The designers have also come up with an “adventurous” variant. The Ami Buggy Vision concept is “a fluid take on a model that is characterful, fun and dedicated to nautical leisure activities,” according to the press release. However, Citroën has yet to confirm any series production plans for the Ami Buggy Vision.
