2025 Chevrolet Silverado EV offers more range

General Motors will launch the 2025 Chevrolet Silverado EV electric pickup truck later this year. It will have a lower base price and longer range. Prices for the Silverado EV 2025 start at $57,095 US dollars (around €52,000).

The new price tag should make the vehicle more affordable for more buyers. The new Max Range trim, which starts at 77,795 US dollars (approximately 71,000 euros), achieves an estimated EPA range of 492 miles (approximately 792 kilometres), far surpassing all other electric pickup trucks.

The fact that GM offers such a long range may be because many customers also use their vehicles to tow trailers, as InsideEVs suspects. The actual range drops significantly with a caravan or boat trailer, so the standard range without a trailer must be particularly high.

“Truck customers tell us range is one of the main barriers to considering an EV. The 2024 Silverado EV already was the range leader, and for this new model year we’ve set the bar even higher,” said Scott Bell, vice president, Chevrolet.

The manufacturer is also introducing a new model variant called LT. “Both the LT with standard content and with the LT Premium Package are priced so eligible customers may qualify for the federal tax credit,” GM emphasises. The ‘Extended Range’ LT trim offers 408 miles of EPA-rated range (approx. 657 km).

“A second barrier to entry is price, so we are fortifying the Silverado EV lineup by providing more choice.,” said Bell. “For 2025, we’re introducing an LT trim, offering a more affordable RST package and expanding WT offerings. This increased capability and accessibility is great news for the segment, the industry, and the brand.”

The variant with the most range is the ‘Work Truck Max Range,’ which can go up to 492 miles on one charge, according to EPA. It comes with a hefty price tag of $77,795, making it $20,700 more expensive than the ‘Standard Range’ trim.

General Motors has only offered the Silverado as an electric car since 2024. The Silverado EV is assembled at the Factory Zero Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Center in Michigan – the starting point for GM’s cross-brand EV strategy – with parts sourced domestically and around the world. The car will also be built at the Orion Township plant, but start of production there has already been postponed several times and is now targeted for mid-2026.
