MAN supports electric truck customers with a digital package
The German truck maker says it wants to make its electric-specific digital services available from mid-2025 onwards. Customers will receive these services at no additional cost for five years. Alongside established services such as Geo, Timed, Compliant M, and Perform, the package also includes new services tailored to the needs of electric fleets, such as MAN eManager and MAN SmartRoute. The MAN ServiceCare S service is already free of charge, and the MAN Driver App is available for free download.
The new digital services include MAN DigitalServices, which were initially developed for diesel vehicles and have since been expanded to include eTruck-specific features. For instance, the Perform service has been enhanced with a detailed energy consumption analysis and now includes functions that allow for the monitoring of the electric power take-off and the air conditioning system, among other things.
MAN has also developed entirely new solutions specifically for electric truck fleets, such as the MAN eManager, which controls the charging management and preconditioning of electric vehicles. This solution also offers additional features that can optimise daily operations, including access to battery-related data for detailed vehicle and battery monitoring. Users can see which vehicles are on the road, driving, or stationary. The battery monitoring includes data on daily charging and discharging cycles, climate control, external temperature, and energy consumption.
MAN SmartRoute helps customers ensure their electric trucks travel the most efficient route and reach the right charging station at the right time. The system takes into account real-time changes in parameters such as the remaining range and the availability of charging stations. Relevant information is provided in real-time to both the driver via the vehicle’s infotainment system and the dispatcher through the RIO platform.
MAN Charge&Go is MAN’s charging service for public charging of commercial vehicles. The service offers a charging network designed specifically for commercial vehicles across Europe, likely including the charging stations currently being rolled out by MAN and E.On, as well as those from the commercial vehicle charging park operator Milence. Suitable charging stations along the route are suggested to the dispatcher via MAN SmartRoute. Drivers can view the charging points in the vehicle’s infotainment system and the MAN Driver App. This allows customers to plan vehicle charging, pay at the charging station, and benefit from consolidated billing at the end of the month. MAN Charge&Go works across brands, making it particularly appealing for mixed fleets.
