The Avatr 07 is available in three BEV and three EREV variants. The manufacturer is positioning the model as a competitor to the Tesla Model Y, currently the best-selling car in the world. With dimensions of 4.825 x 1.98 x 1.62 metres and a wheelbase of 2.94 metres, the Avatr 07 is even slightly larger than the Model Y.

Let’s take a look at prices, battery and motorisation. The three battery-electric variants of the Avatr 07 are as follows: They are available at starting prices from 229,900 yuan (around 30,000 euros), 249,900 yuan (around 32,500 euros), and 289,900 yuan (around 38,000 euros), with the most expensive variant being an all-wheel drive model and the other two being rear-wheel drive models.

It uses an 800 V high-voltage platform. The single-engine version has a peak output of 252 kW and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in 6.3 seconds. The twin-engine version has an additional front engine with a peak output of 188 kW and manages the sprint from 0 to 100 kph in 3.9 seconds.

The battery-electric Avatr 07 comes standard with a Shenxing battery with a capacity of 82.16 kWh. It is CATL’s 4C fast-charging lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, launched in August 2023 and can be charged from 0 to 80 per cent in 20 minutes. According to CLTC, the range is 650 km for the rear-wheel drive model and 610 km for the all-wheel drive version.

The Avatr 07 was unveiled back in May, and the EREV variants were announced in August. The cheapest EREV variant costs 10,000 yuan less than the battery-electric variant. It starts at 219,900 yuan (around 28,500 euros). The EREV comes with a 39 kWh battery with LFP chemistry, the CLTC range of the battery is 220 to 230 kilometres. Combined with the car’s combustion engine, the range is 1,050 to 1,100 kilometres.

Both BEV and EREV utilise Huawei’s intelligent driving technology, with some variants being equipped with a 192-channel LiDAR, thus supporting Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 3.0 system. The cockpit system is Huawei’s Harmony OS 4.0.

The Avatr 07 could also come to Europe. One indication is that Changan presented the car at the Automechanika in Frankfurt, Germany, last month. So far, the Avatr model range has comprised two all-electric models, the Avatr 11 SUV and the coupé-style Avatr 12 saloon.
