The 150 newly purchased Xpeng Aeroht flying cars (electric vertical takeoff and landing / eVTOL) will be going to the companies Gaozhi Aviation and Aocheng Aviation. The modular concept includes an aircraft carrier, which is a triple-axle transporter with a range extender that can transport and recharge the eVTOL on board within the vehicle.

According to CN EV Post, the eVTOL will be sold for around 2 million Yuan – currently around 285,000 dollars, as confirmed in Chinese media last month.

Gaozhi Aviation and Aocheng Aviation are based in Hanthou in the Zhejiang province, where they provide air travel services to clientele in the Yangtze River Delta region, reports CN EV Post citing statements from Xpeng Aeroht. The companies will support their clientele with airspace approvals, flight license training, and through the organisation of user events in Zhejiang province.

The Yangtze River Delta region is known as one of the most economically dynamic regions in China, encompassing the Shanghai municipality, Jiangsu Anhui, and the northern part of the Zhejiang province. In the region famous for its strong innovation capacity, the two companies hope to capture the first movers in low-altitude urban mobility.

The eVTOL and its parent vehicle were presented in October 2023. The ground vehicle, which can itself accommodate up to five people, is designed to recharge the flying two-seater eVTOL between flights. It will enter presales at the end of 2024, with mass production and deliveries in 2026.

Xpeng Aeroht was founded in 2013 without Xpeng’s involvement and is now a technology unit majority-owned by the Guangzhou-based company and its chairperson, He Xiaopeng. The developer presented its first product, the Aeroht X2 flying car, in 2021, followed by the first public flights in Dubai in 2022. In January 2023, the company received a conditional flight licence from Chinese authorities.
