Karldischinger to procure 100 emission-free Mercedes trucks
Both parties have signed a letter of intent confirming this goal. The partnership between Karldischinger and Mercedes-Benz Trucks has deep roots, having spanned 100 years. Karldischinger’s fleet relies heavily on Mercedes-Benz trucks, with about 120 vehicles in its current lineup. The company also utilises around 300 trailers. This long-standing collaboration was celebrated during a special anniversary event where the managers from both companies reaffirmed their commitment to modernising their logistics operations with emission-free solutions.
As a first step, Karldischinger has introduced a Mercedes-Benz eActros 300 Lowliner into its fleet. The vehicle will be used in the inbound logistics of the Daimler assembly plant in Wörth. Mercedes-Benz aims to establish a locally emissions-free inbound logistics network by 2026. Currently, around 20 eActros 300 models are already in operation at Wörth, and Karldischinger’s new addition will soon join this fleet.
Jürgen Distl, Head of Operations at Mercedes-Benz Trucks, highlighted the long-standing relationship between the two companies: “For a century, the name ‘Karldischinger’ has stood for reliability and innovative spirit in the transport industry. The company has been operating as a carrier for transportation at our plants since 1995, and Karldischinger Logistikdienstleister has managed to establish itself as an extremely reliable partner for our production network.”
The collaboration between Karldischinger and Mercedes-Benz has intensified since 1995 when Karldischinger became the regional freight carrier for Daimler Trucks, covering areas like the Black Forest, the Rhine plain, and parts of Saarland and the Palatinate in Germany. The company also services southern Baden-Württemberg and the Frankfurt am Main area.
The partnership traces back to 1924, when Karl Dischinger, the founder’s grandfather, purchased his first ‘Benz delivery truck’ from the Benz factory in Gaggenau. This purchase marked the beginning of a journey through various technological innovations.
In South Baden, preparations are already underway for the new era of goods transport. A 300 kW charging station has been installed to support the eActros 300 as it starts its operational duties in inbound logistics. The company is also considering the electrification of its trailers. The first electric trailer is already in use for fresh logistics, where the cooling unit is powered electrically, and energy is generated by a recuperation axle.
