Zeon Charging plans to develop over 20 charging hubs utilising Kempower’s satellite charging systems, which can deliver power outputs of 200 to 520 kW and have six to eight DC connectors. Speaking to electrive, Rahul S, Franchise Manager of Zeon Charging, said the company sources its DC chargers from Finland. Kempower operates three EV charging solutions factories in Lahti, Finland, and one in Durham, USA.

The first charging hub is located in Sira, a town in the southern Indian state of Karnataka. According to Zeon Charging, it consists of three Kempower DC chargers and an ABB DC charger. The former has two charging guns and can charge EVs at up to 200 kW.

Zeon Charging is present in three more South Indian states – Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and the western state of Maharashtra. Rahul S added that the company operates about 350 DC fast chargers and 100 AC chargers nationwide.

“We are excited to roll out the Kempower Satellite charging systems along some of our important highway stations in our own DC charger network and continue to provide the Indian customer with a premium, hassle-free experience,” said Akhil Venkateshwaran, Director and CTO, Zeon Charging.

Hari Krishna, Business Development Executive at Zeon Charging, told electrive the company would soon enter Telangana, another state in the southern part of India, and then northern and eastern states in the coming years. Krishna indicated that Zeon Charging chooses highly frequented locations and routes for the charging stations. The site in Sira, for instance, is located in the parking lot of Paakashala, a popular restaurant chain, along the Bengaluru-Pune highway. The company also partners with IT parks, malls, shopping complexes, resorts, and apartments. “We focus on deploying our chargers on major highways, enabling EV customers to travel longer distances without range anxiety,” Krishna said.

Glida (formerly Fortum Charge & Drive India) also uses Kempower’s EV chargers in India. A month ago, it installed them at a new charging station that can serve 102 EVs in Shamshabad, a town near Hyderabad Airport in Telangana. The most powerful charger at this facility is a 200 kW DC unit with six satellite dispensers.
