The two models can be ordered with immediate effect from “designated Stellantis brand vehicle dealers throughout Europe.” The joint venture called Leapmotor International is making its debut in Europe with the two vehicles, which were already priced a few days ago: The T03 compact car costs from 18,900 euros, the C10 SUV from just under 35,000 euros.

In addition to Germany, the first markets for Leapmotor vehicles in Europe are Belgium, France, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Switzerland and the UK. From the fourth quarter of this year, Leapmotor International also plans to launch sales in the Middle East and Africa (Israel and French overseas territories), the Asia-Pacific region (Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Malaysia and Nepal) and South America (Brazil and Chile).

“This unique partnership in the automotive industry offers European buyers access to advanced, high-value BEV technology, bolstered by the organizational and retail support of Stellantis for a customer-focused ownership experience that sets Leapmotor International apart from other Chinese competitors,” said Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares. “Thanks to the powerful Stellantis parts distribution system, Leapmotor’s customers will benefit from an unrivaled level of service, which is an important differentiator. We have created a very efficient partnership with Leapmotor that is designed to bring value to our European customers first and to our long-term sustainability.”

Last year, Stellantis acquired a 20 per cent stake in Leapmotor to boost its business in China and bring Leapmotor’s electric cars to Europe. They then founded the 51/49 Stellantis-Leapmotor joint venture. Thanks to Stellantis’ sales channels, Leapmotor International plans to have 350 sales outlets in Europe.

The T03 is a compact vehicle in the A-segment with an interior that, according to Stellantis, is more familiar from the B-segment. It is offered by Leapmotor International in the UK from 15,995 pounds, and in France for the above-mentioned 18,900 euros. The T03 has a battery capacity of 37.3 kWh and a range of 265 kilometres (according to WLTP). The electric motor on board delivers 70 kW. DC charging from 30 to 80 per cent SoC should take 36 minutes. That is comparatively slow. The equipment includes 15-inch wheels, a panoramic roof, a rear parking sensor and a reversing camera.

The C10 SUV, based on the Leap 3.0 architecture and the first Leapmotor model designed for the global market, is available in the ‘Style’ trim level from 34,900 euros (in France) or 36,500 pounds in the UK. Incidentally, the price now shown on Leapmotor International’s French configurator is lower than what Stellantis announced a few days ago. At the time, the automotive group announced a price of a minimum of 36,400 euros for the SUV.

There is also the higher ‘Design’ trim level. The C10 has a 69.9 kWh battery and 160 kW motor power. It has a WLTP range of 420 kilometres and should be able to charge from 30 to 80 per cent within 30 minutes. The main features of the C10 include 18-inch tyres, a panoramic sunroof, a heat pump and concealed door handles.

As reported recently, the first batch of T03 and C10 electric cars has already been shipped from China to Europe. In the long term, however, the vehicles for the European market will no longer be built in China, but in Europe. The T03 will be built at the Stellantis plant in Tychy, Poland. Moreover, Leapmotor International CEO Tianshu Xin told reporters in Italy that the “T03 model will start official production in the fourth quarter this year.” Where the C10 will be built in Europe, however, has not yet been decided, according to Xin.
