Canoo is coming to Europe

The American EV startup Canoo is launching in the UK. It selected Bicester Motion as a place to do business from - a place that is already familiar with these kinds of vehicles and is (albeit with a few detours) tied to Canoo.

For the launch, Canoo has set up Canoo Technologies UK Limited. According to the manufacturer, the move is “significant milestone in the company’s global expansion strategy.” About half a year ago, Canoo introduced its right-hand drive vehicle, CEO Tony Aquila explains.

As mentioned above, Canoo selected Bicester Motion for its ‘Activation Center,’ which used to be home to Arrival. The latter declared bankruptcy at the beginning of the year and sold its production equipment to Canoo, which is using it in its Oklahoma production facilities.

Canoo builds its Lifestyle Vehicle (LV) and its cargo variant, the Lifestyle Delivery Vehicle (LDV), at its plant in the US state of Oklahoma. The manufacturer acquired this plant at the end of 2022. The company also operates an assembly plant for battery modules in Pryor, around 240 kilometres north of the production site.

Canoo has a relatively full order book in the US, including an order for six units of its Lifestyle Delivery Vehicle 190 (LD 190) from the United States Postal Service (USPS), which were delivered in the first quarter of the year. Nonetheless, the company is not without controversy. For example, according to its full-year earnings for 2023, Canoo apparently spent double its annual revenue on CEO Tony Aquila’s private jet.

Not it’s not. Canoo will be delisted in 60 days and then a quick bankruptcy.

Why would they focus on RHD vehicles for GB when they can easily sell LHD's in majority of the European market?!

Canoo is steer by wire so switching between rhd and lhd is trivial.
