Siemens eMobility & Heliox to form a new entity

Siemens acquired the Dutch charging infrastructure specialist Heliox in January 2024 to expand its offering in the electric truck and bus charging field, as well as depot and fleet solutions. The German engineering giant is now merging Siemens eMobility with Heliox to give the business “entrepreneurial freedom to transform into a more agile, focused and efficient market player.”

“The new setup of eMobility will enable the business to accelerate profitability by focusing on high-potential business segments and strategically relevant geographies,” said Matthias Rebellius, Member of the Managing Board of Siemens AG and CEO of Smart Infrastructure.

So far, Siemens eMobility has production and R&D sites in Germany, Portugal, the United States, India and the Netherlands. Siemens bundled its eMobility charging activities in 2018 and then formed this into a separate business unit in 2022. With the acquisition of Heliox, Siemens said it was able to extend its market reach, especially in Europe and North America, as well as improve its capabilities in power electronics.

Rebellius said, that with the spin-off of Siemens eMobility and its merger with Heliox, the company will now have more freedom to define its focus areas “based on business strengths.” He said the business will be “well positioned to foster new partnerships to increase customer access through new sales channels and enrich capabilities in new end markets.”
