Ekoenergetyka unveils megawatt charging system

Polish charging infrastructure manufacturer Ekoenergetyka presented its Megawatt Charging System (MCS) solution at the IAA Transportation. The device combination presented in Hanover features an optional MCS and CCS connection on a satellite unit.

Ekoenergetyka wants to realise the megawatt charging with a power unit-satellite combination. The power unit required for this has been known since the spring and is called Axon Side 360 DLBS. What is new is the coupling of this power supply unit with megawatt satellites called SAT 1500 MCS. According to the Polish manufacturer, the system can deliver a total output of 1,440 kW using four power units.

Let’s take a closer look at Ekoenergetyka’s power unit: The product called Axon Side 360 DLBS is a power supply unit that distributes the charging current to several satellites via dynamic load balancing. The system is therefore reminiscent of other charging systems with a power unit and slimline satellites, such as those from Kempower.

In the case of the new megawatt charging system, the eponymous 360 kW is combined from four power units and thus added together, resulting in the aforementioned 1,440 kW. “The satellite enables charging of heavy-duty electric vehicles with more than 1 MW of power, reducing charging time to as little as 35 minutes, fitting within the driver’s break,” the manufacturer writes. “Thanks to its compact design and the ability to charge two vehicles simultaneously, the SAT 1500 MCS is ideal for areas where space is limited, such as along major transportation routes and logistics hubs.”

Ekoenergetyka offers the now-unveiled charging station in three versions: MCS only, CCS only or MCS and CCS. In the first two cases, only one charging point is available. In the latter case, two vehicles can be charged simultaneously, regardless of whether they have an MCS or CCS charging port.
