Connect Bus apparently cancels electric bus order with Ebusco

In Sweden, the bus company Connect Bus is apparently cancelling its cooperation with the Dutch manufacturer Ebusco. The background to this is said to be that Ebusco has not delivered the 47 electric buses ordered to Connect Bus by the end of 2023 as agreed.

This is according to a report by the Swedish portal Buss Magasinet. Connect Bus had ordered a total of 47 Ebusco 3.0 electric buses in 2022, which were to be delivered by the end of last year. As this has not happened and Ebusco’s financial situation is also very tight, Connect Bus is choosing a new, as yet undisclosed e-bus supplier, according to the report.

There is a lot of movement at Ebusco at the moment, both in front of and behind the scenes: at the beginning of the month, Christian Schreyer succeeded the previous management duo Peter Bijvelds and Michiel Peters as the sole CEO. There have also been personnel changes on the Supervisory Board. The new appointments are related, among other things, to a newly developed reorganisation plan to lead Ebusco out of the current difficult phase.

Specifically, the Dutch company recorded an EBITDA loss of 60.7 million euros in the first half of 2024 (+40% compared to 2023) with a turnover of 38 million euros (-8.8%). While the order books are filled with 1,662 buses, only 98 buses were delivered between January and June. Measures already taken include the assembly of the Ebusco 3.0 model, which has now been entrusted to an external partner in China.
