The charging points will all have connectors for NACS and CCS – a first in North America, says Brite Energy Partners (BEP), who operates the WATER charging network. Moreover, all stations will offer 200 or 350 kW and will be installed by the end of the year.

Nearly half of the planned chargers (87 to be exact) will be installed in the region of Gangwon. Other key regions include North Chungcheong, and Busan. Korea Expressway Corporation will provide the sites, while WATER will be in charge of the installation and the operation of the charging stations for a 10-year period.

“We are absolutely delighted to have partnered with Korea Expressway Corporation to install and operate 209 ultra-fast chargers on Korean highways,” says Daewon Yu, CIO of Brite Energy Partners and Head of Water Business. “Together with our differentiated service quality and charging station design, we are confident that our state-of-the-art charging stations will ease EV range anxiety on highways and help accelerate Korea’s greater adoption of battery electric vehicles.”
