The first DC station in Hanoi with a capacity of 100 to 120 kW is due to open this month and PV Power has two more already planned in the capital. PV Power writes in its press release that “the nation’s system of charging stations -aside from those that cater exclusively to VinFast vehicles – remains rather ‘thin’.” In response, PV Power signed a Memorandum of Understanding with EN Technologies “to research and develop a charging station system in the country.”

Under the partnership, PV Power is committing to finding the appropriate locations for the stations and supplying the necessary technical infrastructure, including the input power supply.

PV Power’s DC charging stations are capable of handling up to 120 kW capacity, and each features two charging connections, each allowing for up to 60 kW charge.

Another company is also competing to build the largest charging network for electric vehicles: V-Green is a company initiated by VinFast founder Pham Nhat Vuong and plans to invest the equivalent of 405.3 million US dollars in the construction of 150,000 charging stations across the country over the next two years. Porsche has also committed to building a charging network with Charge+.

Vietnam has issued targets for all buses to be electric by 2025, all taxis by 2030 and all general vehicles by 2050.
