Iveco receives order for twelve H2 buses from Cannes
Since June last year, the urban community has been operating a fleet of 107 vehicles that are purely battery-electric and run on biofuels. Following the introduction of 35 GX ELECs, Iveco has now received a further order for the delivery of twelve H2 buses from Cannes. Once delivered, the buses will operate on the Palm Bus network.
The hydrogen buses are the twelve-metre-long model with the bulky name Heuliez GX 337 H2 Linium. The fuel cell bus was unveiled in October last year as the E-Way H2. The model is equipped with a 310 kW electric motor and a fuel cell system from the Hyundai brand HTWO, which has an output of 100 kW. Four hydrogen tanks with a total capacity of 31 kg H2 are located on the roof. A 69 kWh battery pack, which can also be charged via CCS, serves as energy storage. Iveco specifies a range of up to 450 kilometres.
The twelve H2 buses are to be refuelled on-site. David Lisnard, President of the urban community, has decided that hydrogen will be produced in a production plant yet to be built in Cannes from 2025. According to Iveco, this is a “first in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region.” Once completed, 41 buses will be able to be refuelled with hydrogen. However, there is no information on how this number of H2 buses will be realised.
“We are very proud to have been selected by the Cannes Lérins Urban Community for the supply of these 12 new GX 337 H2 buses,” said Giorgio Zino, Head of IVECO BUS Europe Commercial Operations. “This renewed trust confirms IVECO BUS’s excellence in zero-emission mobility solutions, and in particular hydrogen technology.”
