Xpeng Aeroht, the flying car business of Chinese electric car manufacturer Xpeng, plans to start series production and deliveries of its Land Aircraft Carrier in 2026. The price is expected to be less than 2 million yuan, the equivalent of less than 250,000 euros.

According to Chinese media reports, the founder and president of Xpeng Aeroht, Zhao Deli, said this at a digitally broadcast event on the Land Aircraft Carrier. The modular Aircraft Carrier is a triple-axle transporter with a range extender that has an eVTOL on board. It was presented for the first time in October 2023 and the vehicle is designed to be able to recharge the flying two-seater between flights. Up to five people can be accommodated in the all-wheel-drive vehicle.

President Zhao Deli also explained the next planned milestones at the event. The first public flight will be demonstrated at the Zhuhai Airshow in November and the concept will also be presented at the Guangzhou Auto Show, also in November. The company plans to start pre-sales for the Land Aircraft Carrier at the end of the year, with production and delivery to follow in 2026, with the factory in Guangzhou scheduled for completion in mid-2025. In terms of production capacity, there is talk of 10,000 units per year. The ground-breaking ceremony is scheduled for “late September to early October this year.”

Xpeng Aeroht was founded in 2013 without Xpeng involvement and is now a technology unit majority-owned by the Guangzhou-based company and its chairman He Xiaopeng. The developer presented its first product, the Aeroht X2 flying car, in 2021, followed by the first public flights in Dubai in 2022. In January 2023, the company then received a conditional flight licence from the Chinese authorities. This makes the Aeroht X2 the first crewed eVTOL to receive such a licence for test flights in China.
