The Zeekr 7X made its debut today at the Chengdu Auto Show, with the official market launch in China scheduled for 20 September. Zeekr has announced a starting price of 239,000 yuan, the equivalent of around 30,400 euros. This makes the 7X the second model after the 007 that the Geely brand is positioning in the mass market. It is primarily aimed at families. The existing trio of Zeekr 001, Zeekr 009 and Zeekr X is more in the high-priced premium segment.

According to Chinese media, the manufacturer has developed the Zeekr 7X under the internal codename CX1e. The SUV is based on the 800-volt version of Geely’s SEA platform and measures 4,825 x 1,930 x 1,656 mm with a wheelbase of just under three metres. A rear-wheel drive version with a 310 kW silicon carbide electric motor and an all-wheel drive version with an additional 165 kW motor on the front axle are available. According to the manufacturer, acceleration from 0 to 100 kph should be possible in 3.8 seconds with the top motorisation. There are also two battery options (75 and 100 kWh) for ranges of up to 605 and 780 kilometres respectively according to the Chinese CLTC test cycle. The smaller battery is based on LFP chemistry, the larger on NMC chemistry.

Car News China also adds that the smaller LFP battery can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in 10.5 minutes. This should correspond to a charging rate of 5.5 C. The specific DC charging capacity is not yet mentioned. The battery is said to come from Geely subsidiary VREMT and will also be used in the 2025 model year Zeekr 007. The NMC battery, on the other hand, is a purchased Qilin battery from CATL.

In terms of paintwork, buyers can choose between four colours: Arctic White, Dawn Brown, Nightfall Gray and Polar Night Black. The SUV will be fitted with 19- or 20-inch wheels and boasts a considerable kerb weight of 2298 to 2475 kilograms and a boot capacity of 616 litres.

The smart car features of the new Zeekr SUV, which are particularly important in China, include two Nvidia chips, a LiDAR, as well as several HD cameras and millimetre-wave radar. The infotainment system is powered by a Qualcomm chip. The cockpit has the usual Zeekr layout with two screens.

Zeekr is currently planning seven new BEV models by 2026. In addition to a minivan called the Zeekr Mix and the estate version of the Zeekr 007, the company plans to launch another minivan and four electric SUV crossovers. One of these is likely to be the 7X. The plans emerged from a leaked slide from a Deutsche Bank presentation in June.
