There are three variants of the Mona M03 available, called the 515, 620 and 580 Max. The number refers to the maximum range. The smaller version thus has a battery with an energy content of 51.8 kWh and a range of 515 kilometres. The larger versions are both fitted with a 62.2-kWh battery and have a range of 620 and 580 kilometres, respectively.

All batteries are supplied by BYD’s battery division FinDreams and are based on lithium iron phosphate chemistry.

Both larger variants use a 160 kW electric motor and can accelerate to 100 kph from a standstill in 7.4 seconds. ‘Max stands for the maximum power output. The version has a maximum torque of 250 Nm. While the first two variants are already in production, the latter will not be built until after the Chinese New Year, so late January or early February 2025. Deliveries for the 515 and 620 variants will start next month.

The Mona M03 is the first EV jointly developed by Xpeng and Chinese ride-hailing service provider Didi. As mentioned above, the order books for the Mona M03 have been open for about two weeks now. Apparently, the carmaker received 10,000 orders in the first 52 minutes of the car being available.

Xpeng hopes to increase sales with the Mona M03. While sales were up in Q2/2024 and net losses were down, the Chinese carmaker hopes to continue along that route. “Starting from the launch of Mona M03 in August, we are about to enter into a strong product cycle,” Xiaopeng He, Chairman and CEO of Xpeng, said during the presentation of the Q2 financial figures.
