Neta S shooting brake to be the first model on CATL chassis

The first model based on CATL's CIIC skateboard chassis will be the 800-volt version of the Neta S Kombi. It had already become apparent that Neta would be one of the first customers of the CATL chassis.

The EREV version of the Neta S estate with two battery options (from Gotion and Eve Energy) has been available to order in China for a few days now. The battery-electric version of the Neta S is to be officially presented on 25 August.

This is because the 800-volt BEV version of the Neta S estate will not be based on the Neta architecture Shanhai 2.0, but on the skateboard chassis CIIC, which was developed by CATL and presented in more detail at the end of 2023. According to CATL, the CIIC comprises “battery packs, electric motors and other components” as a complete substructure. Chinese media reported at the beginning of this year that these are to include braking, steering and power electronic components – in other words, an almost ready-to-drive electric car platform.

The fact that the Neta S estate uses the CIIC (CATL Integrated Intelligent Chassis) was reported by CnEVPost, among others, citing a statement made available to the portal. However, the Chinese eMobility medium does not provide any further details on the technical data.

However, it is not surprising that Neta is one of the first customers for the CIIC: Neta and CATL had already signed a cooperation agreement on the CATL Integrated Intelligent Chassis at the beginning of 2023. At that time, it was stated that the skateboard chassis would achieve an ‘unprecedented high level of integration’, including the drivetrain, braking system, steering system and thermal management system. As Neta was able to develop the vehicle superstructure independently of the substructure, this should drastically reduce development times and costs.
