Xiaomi aims to crack 100,000 vehicle milestone with the SU7
According to the new financial report, Xiaomi delivered a total of 27,307 vehicles of its first model SU7 to customers in the second quarter of 2024, with deliveries starting on 3 April. Xiaomi generated sales of 6.2 billion yuan (around 800 million euros) with the electric cars. During the quarter, the gross margin of the innovation business, including electric cars, was 15.4 per cent, Xiaomi announced.
Meanwhile, production and deliveries of the SU7 continue to pick up: According to a company presentation, the SU7 was the best-selling electric sedan in China in July with 13,120 units, ahead of the Tesla Model 3, which achieved 9,928 units. In view of the double shift in production introduced in the summer, Xiaomi believes it is well on the way to breaking the 100,000 vehicle delivery mark in November. Xiaomi is still aiming for the 120,000 units announced in May as its annual target.
The stationary points of sale in China are also important for sales: at the end of July, their number was in the three-digit range for the first time, with 102 shops in 34 cities.
Xiaomi is also making progress in smart driving: the company launched the urban NOA (Navigate on Autopilot) function in 10 cities in mainland China on 6 June 2024, according to the company. Xiaomi plans to roll out the urban NOA function nationwide in August 2024, the company said.
The SU7 in the standard version runs on a 73.6 kWh LFP battery from BYD and 220 kW rear-wheel drive and is available from 215,900 yuan or (around 27,600 euros). The SU7 Pro also uses the 220 kW rear-wheel drive but in combination with a 94.3 kWh battery with NMC cells from CATL. This version starts at 245,900 yuan or 31,475 euros. The top model is the SU7 Max with a 495 kW all-wheel drive and a 101 kWh NMC battery from CATL. The all-wheel drive vehicle is available from 299,900 yuan (38,390 euros).
