DSV orders 300 electric trucks from Volvo Trucks
According to the Swedish manufacturer, the first units awill hit the road this year. The order is expected to be fully processed in 2026. Volvo Trucks does not specify which models are involved in the ordered units. It merely mentions that the electric trucks on order include examples of the new Volvo FH Aero Electric, which features improved aerodynamics compared to the classic FH Electric.
The deal with DSV is not just for zero-emission vehicles. The two parties also agreed on 500 highly fuel-efficient diesel and gas drivelines that will also be delivered by 2026.
DSV is a global logistics company based in Denmark with a fleet of more than 20,000 trucks. The group wants to have a total of 2,000 electric trucks on the road by 2030. These include not only Volvos, but also other brands such as DAF. However, there is a special connection between the two Scandinavian companies, as DSV is the Volvo Group’s largest freight transporter – and states that it already has Volvo electric trucks in its fleet in Sweden and Denmark. In both countries, charging stations powered by electricity from solar panels have been installed in the distribution centres.
“I’m very proud to deepen the partnership we have with DSV. Collaboration and a strong commitment to really make a difference is essential for making sustainable transport and big CO2 reductions a reality. This order is proof of their trust in our company and shows that zero-exhaust emissions transport is a viable solution here and now,” says Roger Alm, President Volvo Trucks.
Søren Schmidt, CEO DSV Road, adds: “Collaboration across sectors is key to battle climate change, and we are happy to extend our partnership with Volvo in our joint effort to reduce emissions in the transport industry. As a global leader in logistics, we must try to stay at the forefront of the green transition and this agreement is a fantastic example of how new technologies can be brought to market at scale to make them more accessible for our customers. The deal with Volvo is an important step towards enabling a more sustainable future in trucking.”
