Mooving & Hindustan Petrolium to set up battery swapping network in India
Mooving has announced a landmark collaboration with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), an enterprise majority-owned by the Government of India. Under the partnership, Mooving will get access to 22,000+ HPCL retail outlets across India to install its automated swapping stations, marking a significant advancement in the country’s electric vehicle infrastructure.
The partners plan to set up over 500 automated battery-swapping stations over the next 12 months, which the partners estimate will boost battery-swapping services in India as a whole, introducing a new Battery as a Service (BaaS), lowering EV acquisition costs, as well as “accelerate electric mobility adoption, and provide essential support to EV customers across regions.”
Beyond the battery swapping network, HPCL has also installed more than 3,000 charging stations at their locations across the country. A deal with Gogoro to install a network of battery-swapping stations was also announced last year. A deal to set up more charging stations was also signed in February of this year.
“Our collaboration with HPCL is a monumental step towards transforming India’s EV infrastructure. By combining our automated technology with HPCL’s extensive network, we are setting a new benchmark for battery swapping services,” said Pritesh Talwar, President of Lectrix EV and Mooving, adding: “This major step will help create one of the largest automated battery-swapping networks in India. This partnership will also contribute to economic growth by creating new job opportunities and fostering innovation within the EV ecosystem.”
