Xpeng Aeroht raises $150 mn in capital
There is no information about the investors: The only thing that founder Zhao Deli stated is that “financial reserves are strong, and this funding round will ensure the successful development, mass production, and commercialization of Xpeng Aeroht’s flying cars.” The manufacturer also mentioned that it plans to launch a Series B2 funding round.
As previously reported, Xpeng Aeroht is looking to open a factory for flying cars in Guangzhou, China. The manufacturer has yet to publish a timetable, planned capacity, or the amount it plans to spend on construction.
The modular flying car, the so-called ‘Land Aircraft Carrier,’ was first introduced in October 2023. It is a range-extended three-axle van carrying an eVTOL on board. The concept van can also recharge the two-seater in between flights. Up to five people may stay inside the “ground module,” which is “equipped with a range-extended electric drive system to recharge the air module multiple times.”
The company also repeated its plans to launch pre-sales of the ‘Land Aircraft Carrier’ in China in the fourth quarter of this year.
Xpeng Aeroht first launched its flying car in 2021, and the first public flights in Dubai followed in 2022. The company then received a conditional flight permit from the authorities in China in January 2023, making the Aeroht X2 the first crewed eVTOL to obtain such a license for test flights in China.
