Eleport expands into Croatia and Slovenia with TurboVolt takeover

The charging network Eleport has acquired the Austria-based charging infrastructure company TurboVolt. With the takeover, Eleport is continuing its European expansion into Croatia and Slovenia. In a first phase, a total of 17 charging parks are to be created at Supernova and SES shopping centres.

However, details such as the purchase price were not mentioned in the announcement. Instead, the company, which operates in Central and Eastern Europe, goes into more detail about its expansion plans.

“This acquisition is another pivotal step in Eleport’s long-term plan of becoming the leading EV charging network in CEE,” says Jakub Miler, CEO of Eleport. Anthony Hinde, CEO of TurboVolt, added: “Together, we will provide market leading solutions for high speed charging in CEE markets which urgently need solutions.”

It was only announced in mid-June that TurboVolt will equip three Supernova shopping centres in Croatia and Slovenia with charging infrastructure. Specifically, these are locations in Zagreb and Zadar in Croatia and Ljubljana in Slovenia. Each of these charging hubs will therefore house twelve charging stations from Kempower. Nothing will change at the three locations mentioned, according to Eleport.

In fact, the company wants to go even further and build a total of 17 charging parks at Supernova and SES shopping centres in Croatia and Slovenia in the first phase. In addition to the three locations mentioned, the other 14 charging hubs are also to be equipped with twelve charging points with up to 300 kW each. It is not clear from the press release whether Kempower will supply all locations with charging infrastructure. Nor does it say where they are located or when they will go into operation.

With the acquisition of TurboVolt and the associated expansion into Croatia and Slovenia, Eleport now covers a total of six European countries. The company is already active in Poland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania and says it operates a total of more than 800 charging points. The number is set to rise to 1,350 by the end of this year. This is to be made possible not only by the takeover that has now taken place but also through cooperation. In June, Eleport announced its intention to install charging points at 70 Carrefour locations in 65 Polish cities, which alone should increase the network by 170 charging points by 2025.
