Volvo introduces new EX30 variant in the UK

Volvo Cars UK is expanding its EX30 range with a new entry-level 'Core' specification. Joining the established 'Plus' and 'Ultra' grades in the line-up, the new EX30 Core is available with two powertrains.

The two new variants include a ‘Single Motor’ version, which features a driving range of up to 209 miles, and a ‘Single Motor Extended Range’, which can travel up to 295 miles, according to official WLTP data. On-the-road prices start at £32,850 for the Single Motor version and £37,050 for the Single Motor Extended Range.

Order books are already open for the new EX30 Core variants, however, first customer deliveries are not expected until early 2025. Considering that the first EX30 was only handed over to customers at the beginning of this year, that is no surprise.

Volvo describes the equipment package as “generous”, as it includes a “rear parking camera, rear parking sensors, automatic LED headlights with active high beam and 18-inch alloy wheels. The 12.3-inch touchscreen system comes with Google built-in. In the Extended Range variant, the climate control system also uses a heat pump, “helping optimise the car’s power usage and driving range.”

The Chinese-owned Swedish company seems to be realigning its global strategy with the EX30, which was only recently discontinued in the USA, however, a new variant was launched in China. This is likely due to the subsidy situation in the USA, which requires vehicles and batteries to be locally sourced, while Volvo’s main production hubs are located in Europe.

Are "automatic LED headlights with active high beam" the ones which seem to be very common yet blind oncoming drivers? If so, it's a no from me. Too many drivers, especially those in "German executive" cars seem not to give a c**p about other road users.

Nice looking car, but I don't like the lack of driver's binnacle as it's not safe to keep looking at the central screen.

People that complain for the sake of complaining usually don't ever find peace in life and that leads them to a whole other low level of life. If you love it, love it. If you hate it, nine out of ten times you hate just about everything and everyone. However, I still wish the petty well in their petty ways.
