The company formerly known as ‘Total’ has already outlined its next target as well: A total of 22,000 publicly accessible charging points are to be installed in the Brussels region by 2035. So far, TotalEnergies has already installed about 25 per cent of these. Additionally, the company plans for the region aims to have a charging point within 150 metres of every household in Brussels from 2035. The date was likely selected due to the fact that the concession was awarded to TotalEnergies for a period of 10 years

The first of the planned charging stations are to be operational by the end of September or the beginning of October. The stations will be fitted with a solar panel at the top, and several are planned to be integrated into street lighting, with
20 to 45 charging points currently slated for integration into street lighting columns. This innovative technology makes it possible to use the existing infrastructure to provide lighting columns with a useful additional function.

TotalEnergies has been very actively ramping up its market presence in e-mobility this year, announcing a major infrastructure expansion in the Netherlands in March, as well as forming a joint venture with SSE in the UK and Ireland called ‘Source,’ which will also focus on the construction of charging infrastructure. In Germany, the company won a tender for charging infrastructure alongside a number of other energy companies, and in January, TotalEnergies placed a major investment for infrastructure in Spain.
