Kia has published the prices for the EV3 in the UK and the Netherlands. We now also know how far the 4.30-metre compact SUV can go between charges. (UPDATE BELOW)

In the UK, the entry-level model of the EV3 with the 58.3 kWh battery is available from £32,995, which is currently equivalent to €39,171. In the Netherlands, this variant starts at 36,995 euros. The EV3 with the large battery (81.4 kWh) is available in the UK from £35,995, which is currently €42,733. In the Netherlands, Kia charges 41,495 euros for this drive variant.

The final WLTP values are also revealed in the Dutch price list. The 58.3-kWh battery is offered in three versions: Air, Plus, and Plus Advanced. Kia specifies a range of 429 kilometres for the first two versions and 408 kilometres for the Plus Advanced. These three versions are also available with a large battery, plus the top versions, GT-Line and GT-PlusLine. The Air and Plus variants have a WLTP range of 600 kilometres, while the other three trim levels have a range of 571 kilometres in the table – at the world premiere, Kia had still stated a provisional range of 560 kilometres.

Regardless of the battery, the EV3 is powered by a 150 kW electric motor. Unlike the larger models based on the E-GMP, this is not installed on the rear axle, but on the front axle. At 7.4 seconds, the standard model accelerates to 100 km/h slightly faster than the long-range version at 7.7 seconds – the smaller battery is simply lighter. However, this is the cheaper 400-volt version of the E-GMP; Kia’s entry into the 800-volt realm still starts with the EV6.

The EV3 is 4.30 metres long, 1.85 metres wide, and 1.56 metres high. At 2.68 metres, it offers the same wheelbase as the Sportage combustion model, which is noticeably larger at 4.52 metres – this should provide plenty of space inside the EV3 with compact exterior dimensions. Specifically, Kia puts the headroom at 1,015 mm at the front and 955 mm at the rear. Legroom in the front is 1,060 mm, and 950 mm in the rear. Nevertheless, the load compartment offers between 460 and 1,20 litres of volume. And there is an additional 25-litre frunk under the front bonnet for stowing the charging cable, for example.

The EV3 will launch in Germany later this year, so we can expect prices to be announced soon. As Kia’s other electric models are priced slightly higher in Germany than in the Netherlands (an EV9 GT-Line costs €82,390 in Germany, while it is available from €78,895 in the Netherlands), the EV3 could start in the €38,000 to €40,000 range. Prices between 42,000 and 44,000 euros can be expected for the large battery.

The carmaker has already confirmed that an all-wheel drive and GT version will follow in 2026.

Update 7 August 2024

After the UK and the Netherlands, the Kia EV3 is now also available in Germany. Kia is now accepting orders for the 4.30 metre long electric SUV, with prices in Germany starting at 35,990 euros for the version with the small battery.

The model with the “Long Range” battery with an energy content of 81.4 kWh costs at least €41,390 in Germany. In both cases, the price is below what we expected it to be.

As Kia states in the press release, the EV3 is also “prepared” for bidirectional charging. At market launch, a 220-volt socket will already be on board to power electrical devices with electricity from the drive battery. The option to return electricity to the grid (V2G) or the home (V2H) is technically possible but—probably due to regulation—has not yet been activated.
