Mullen to deliver 70 electric chassis cabs to Doeringer Fleet Management

US Doeringer Fleet Management has ordered 70 all-electric Class 4 Bollinger B4 commercial trucks from Mullen Automotive. The first vehicles should be delivered before the end of the year. Moreover, former GM Executive James Taylor comes on as new CEO.

The deal is worth 11.5 million dollars, says Mullen. It adds that the Bollinger B4 will be the all-electric medium truck in Doering’s fleet. The latter provides its customers “with the right vehicles for unique business needs.”

The Bollinger B4 Chassis Cab is specially designed to be custom-configured, the manufacturer writes on its website. The chassis itself is fitted with battery packs from Our Next Energy (ONE). Bollinger and ONE signed a contract back in 2022. The batteries can be charged AC at 19.2 kW and DC at 110 kW. Charging from zero to 100 per cent takes nine and two hours, respectively. The range is said to be up to 185 miles (297 kilometres). It also qualifies for 40,000 dollars in federal incentives under the Inflation Reduction Act.

Mullen acquired a majority stake in Bollinger Motors in 2022, adding the latter’s Class 4-6 chassis products to its portfolio. Bollinger is now a Mullen subsidiary.

“Our agreement with Doering Fleet Management is another important step forward for Bollinger Motors,” said Jim Connelly, chief revenue officer of Bollinger Motors. “Doering is one of the top names in the fleet management world and we are honoured to have the Bollinger B4 become an environmentally friendly fleet option for their customers across the country.”

“The Bollinger B4 is an innovative, world-class electric truck with outstanding performance and capability, and Bollinger Motors shares our commitment to outstanding customer service,” said Adam Berger, president of Doering Fleet Management. “For our customers seeking a medium duty electric truck, the Bollinger B4 will be a great option to meet their needs. We look forward to bringing the B4 into our suite of offerings.”

As mentioned above, there is also new management. Former GM executive James Taylor will take over the reins as CEO from the company’s founder Robert Bollinger. However, Bollinger will remain on the Board of Directors and a major shareholder.

“I am grateful and excited for this opportunity to continue moving Bollinger Motors toward a leadership role in the electric vehicle industry,” Taylor said. “Robert and his team have done an incredible job of creating a world-class electric truck with the Bollinger B4, and the upcoming Bollinger B5. The response from the market has been very encouraging and we are well-positioned to disrupt the Class 4 trucking market.”
