VinFast has inaugurated three showrooms in the Philippines, formally marking its entry into the country. The company launched the VF 5 as its first model in the country.

VinFast opened the showrooms in prime locations in the capital Manila, in partnership with local dealers EV Solutions, K1 Prestige Bay Motors Inc., and Autoflare Corporation. The company has a tie-up with MNV Auto Group Inc. as well, a dealer based in Iloilo City, about 650 km south of Manila, and that’s where it may open its next showroom.

In addition to opening its first three dealerships in the Philippines, VinFast has kicked off sales of the VF 5 in the country. The company offers the first model as a conventional purchase, or with a battery subscription. Customers who choose the alternative ownership method can claim battery replacement and maintenance for free if the battery capacity falls below 70%.

VinFast doesn’t mention the prices of the VF 5 in the press announcement or on its Philippine website. Local mobility publication Visor says the electric small SUV costs PHP 992,000 (EUR 15,577) without a battery and PHP 1,191,000 (EUR 18,702) with a battery. It doesn’t mention the cost of the battery subscription, though.

When VinFast announced its first four dealers in the Philippines in May, it said they would sell four models immediately after launch – VF 5, VF e34, VF 7, and VF 9. In addition to the now-on-sale VF 5, it has listed the VF 7 and VF 9 on the local website. Moreover, the company is considering launching the VF 3, as well as electric motorbikes and electric bicycles.

VinFast plans to open dozens of dealerships across the Philippines this year. The Vietnamese automaker is doubling down on Southeast Asian markets and also exploring the Middle East and African regions. The company is building overseas factories in Indonesia, India, and the US to support its global ambitions.
