US: Stellantis customers get wallbox or charge credits

Automotive company Stellantis has launched the Free2move Charge app and website, offering its new BEV customers access to public charging points across the US or a Level 2 charging unit for home charging. Both have a value of about $600 dollars.

As Stellantis brands are getting ready to launch their first battery-electric vehicles in the US, the Group wants to help its new customers with charging as well. With their new electric vehicle, they can choose to get a  Free2move Charge Home charging station. The installation can be scheduled on the Free2move Charge website.

Those who do not want to charge at home can get the equivalent of 600 US dollars as charging credits. These can be used via the Free2move Charge app, which, according to Stellantis, provides “access to more than 75,000 charging networks across the United States, including ChargePoint, Shell Recharge and EVgo.” The app is available in the US and Canada.

Moreover, Stellantis is part of Ionna, a charging joint venture between eight carmakers. Seven of them joined forces in the summer of 2023, while Toyota just recently came on board.

The new battery-electric vehicles that Stellantis brands will bring to the US market include the all-electric 2024 Fiat 500e, 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona, 2025 Jeep Wagoneer S, 2025 Jeep Recon, and 2025 Ram 1500 REV.

”As we introduce our all-electric vehicles this year in the US, we want to ensure that our customers easily understand the charging options available to them before or upon purchase,” said Mathilde Lheureux, head of energy and charge business unit. “Simply stated, included in the purchase of a Stellantis battery-electric vehicle is the ability choose a Free2move Level 2 charging unit or charging credits with a value of $600 to use at charging stations across the country, which are easily identifiable through the app.”

Stellantis launched Free2move Charge in the US and in Europe about a year ago. It is part of Stellantis’ new business unit, Charging & Energy, and seeks to address the requirements of EV owners at home, at work, and on the go. It will also set up an extensive fast-charging network at official Stellantis dealers in Europe by the end of the year.
