Lucid improves energy efficiency of the ‘Air’
According to Lucid, the Air Pure 2025 with its 84-kWh battery pack now has an EPA-estimated range of 420 miles, or 5 miles per kWh, making it the most energy-efficient model currently on the market. The model also features the longest range in Lucid’s lineup, and the lowest cost, starting from $69,900.
The improvement was done by utilizing the heat pump first employed in the Lucid Sapphire, and making it standard across the lineup, improving real-world range. In addition, “a powerful new infotainment processor provides improved user experience,” although this development is not really helping to conserve energy. Instead, Lucid advertises that it delivers “triple the processing power and twice the memory compared to the previous generation.”
Lucid looks to its competitors when considering energy efficiency, and the comparison works well for Lucid. The next in line, which is the Tesla Model S, only reaches 4.02 miles per kWh, while the Toyota Prius only manages 1.69 miles.

Lucid is also slowly ramping up production of its electric vehicles, however, it still stands behind its target of 9,000 vehicles per year, having managed to build 3,838 cars in the first half of the year. The cash injection from Saudi Arabia should help the manufacturer ramp up production capacities, however.
