China’s public sector in Jiangsu considers procuring Tesla Model Ys
According to Chinese media reports, the Tesla Model Y has made it onto a list of electric and plug-in hybrid models for the public sector in Jiangsu province to choose from. This is the first time that Tesla’s cars have been considered for purchase by the Chinese government, according to the Chinese publication The Paper, among others. The eastern Chinese province borders Shanghai, where Tesla is known to be building the Model Y for the Chinese market.
Meanwhile, the portal CN EV Post reports that several state-owned companies in Shanghai have purchased units of the Tesla Model Y in order to “demonstrate the equal treatment of domestic and foreign companies”. This equal treatment claim exists in the Shanghai Lingang Pilot Free Trade Zone. The companies Chengtou Xinggang and Lingang Investment Holding are cited as examples.
