Skoda presents electric ‘Red Car’ for the Tour de France

As the main sponsor of the Tour de France, Skoda is providing the race organisers with 205 vehicles this year, most of which are electric cars and plug-in hybrids. The same applies to the Tour organisers' 'Red Car.'

Skoda Auto will be the main sponsor of the Tour de France for the 21st year in a row this year. In addition to the racing bikes, many cars with alternative drive systems will be on the road this time. Skoda is providing the race organisers with 205 vehicles – most of them BEVs and PHEVs. Tour director Christian Prudhomme will also be driving the all-electric Skoda Enyaq as the ‘Red Car’ to lead the peloton on most stages.

The Tour de France starts on 29 June with the Grand Départ in Florence, Italy. The finish will be on 21 July in Nice. In between, the riders have to complete 3,492 kilometres. The tour passes through four countries: Italy, San Marino, Monaco and France.
