Stagecoach orders 244 electric buses from ADL
Specifically, Stagecoach ordered 180 new Enviro400EV. The electric double decker comes with a 472 kWh battery with NMC cell chemistry and a peak power of 410 kW. Range is said to be a maximum of 260 miles (around 418 kilometres), while the bus has room for up to 96 passengers. Stagecoach has previously chosen this model for its fleets. In fact, it was the first operator to place an order for the Enviro400EV in February 2023, just a few months after the electric bus was unveiled.
Stagecoach also opted for a single decker, ordering 54 units of the Enviro200EV. It is offered in lengths of 10.9 and 11.7 metres and will officially launch next year. According to ADL, this is its first order for the Enviro200EV electric bus.
The third model is the Enviro100EV, first presented alongside the Enviro400EV in 2022. The ten electric midibuses measure just 8.5 metres in length and 2.35 metres in width. They can carry up to 45 passengers, including 25 seated. The NMC battery on board stores either 236 or 354 kWh of energy, which should be enough for ranges of up to 285 miles (about 459 kilometres). In this case, Stagecoach opted for the larger battery option. Stagecoach was also the first company to place an order for the Enviro100EV in December 2023.
The new order is funded through the second round of the UK Government’s Zero-Emission Regional Bus Areas scheme (ZEBRA 2). Stagecoach had supported numerous local authorities across the country to receive funding.
According to ADL, this is its largest single order to date. All 244 units will be handed over to Stagecoach in 2025 and 2026.
