Sany introduces electric excavator on the market in the Netherlands
The medium-sized SY215E electric excavator was developed for the European market and, according to the company, is characterised by cost savings, simple operation, outstanding performance and a high level of safety. The Netherlands was chosen as the first country for a market launch because, according to Sany, it is a “pioneering electric market.”
The excavator has now been launched in the Netherlands in collaboration with local partner DNL Machine & Equipment. The prototype met with keen interest from customers and, according to Sany, numerous pre-orders were placed.
The SY215E with a gross vehicle weight of 232 tonnes has a maximum digging height of 9,600 mm and a maximum digging depth of 6,255 mm. It is available with tracks of 600 mm, 700 mm, 800 mm and 900 mm. With a nominal battery capacity of 422 kWh, the SY215E enables a working time of five to seven hours and, according to Sany’s calculations, saves around 21,560 euros per year compared to conventional excavators. A “dual-gun high-performance quick charge” is said to ensure that the excavator’s battery can be fully charged in 70 minutes.
The SY215E is also said to be easy to operate: “The large HD touchscreen, intelligent fault self-diagnosis, and online operating system upgrades enhance ease of use,” the press release states.
Sany is not the only supplier of electric excavators on the market: Volvo Construction Equipment, or Volvo CE for short, recently presented new electric wheel loaders and excavators. Japanese construction machinery manufacturer Komatsu also presented a new electric excavator in January.
