Nobina will take delivery of 70 Urbino 15 LE electric and articulated Urbino 18 electric this year and next. The latter of the models will go into service in the city of Malmö, while the former will hit the road in the Skåne region and Värmland.

According to Solaris, the Urbino 15 LE electric was specially designed for Scandinavian markets and „interurban services.“ It is a low-entry, three-axle electric bus, with a 240 kW central motor. The batteries have a capacity of 560 kWh.

Nobina already ordered 55 units of the Urbino 15 LE electric in October of last year. They will be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2024 and will go into service in the greater Stockholm area.

“These new orders mark another significant step towards greener public transport solutions in Sweden,“ says Olivier Michard, Member of the Management Board for Sales and Marketing in Solaris Bus & Coach. „We are thrilled to continue our collaboration with Nobina and be a part of the implementation of zero-emission solutions also in suburban transportation.”

Solaris introduced this model at the beginning of 2020, focusing on the Scandinavian markets. In many other countries, twelve-metre solo buses and 18-metre articulated buses are more common. However, the demand for 15-metre three-axle buses in Scandinavia is so significant that it is worthwhile for the manufacturers to have their own model – Solaris also offers the Urbino 15 LE Electric in other markets. Still, sales are focused on Northern Europe.
