Citroën ë-C3 Aircross starts at 26,490 euros

Citroën has presented its new ë-C3 Aircross in detail after the Stellantis brand showed the first images of the model in April. Now there is also all the information about the drive system, the seat configuration and prices in some markets.

The battery-electric drive is only available for the five-seater version, as Citroën has now specified – the seven-seater only comes with petrol and hybrid drive. However, there are no surprises when it comes to the drive itself: the ë-C3 Aircross is powered by an 83 kW motor in combination with a 44 kWh LFP battery for a range of over 300 kilometres. This is the drive system from the smaller ë-C3 – in the small car, which is around 40 centimetres shorter, over 320 kilometres are possible with the same battery.

A version with a different battery is due to follow in 2025, which will increase the range to over 400 kilometres. Details of this have not yet been announced. However, it is likely to be the Stellantis electric drive with 115 kW of power in combination with the 54 kWh battery, which is used for the models based on the e-CMP platform, for example. The CMP Smart Car, on which both the ë-C3 and the ë-C3 Aircross are based, has been derived from the e-CMP. Both models are built together with other model series based on the CMP Smart Car in Trnava, Slovakia.

With a length of 4.39 metres, the Aircross is basically a vehicle class above the small ë-C3 with a length of 4.02 metres. Compared to its predecessor of the same name, not only the platform but also the concept of the C3 Aircross has been radically changed – “with the aim of strengthening its position in a very competitive sector”, as the French company explained in April. The rather rounded shapes of its predecessor have been transformed into an emphatically angular vehicle with the design language of the ë-C3. This not only fits in with the current brand design, but the vertical surfaces also maximise the available space in the interior.

Now there are figures on this too: The five-seater version is said to offer a 460-litre boot (1,600 litres with the rear seat backrests folded down) and “best-in-class space in row 2” – compared to the seven-seater, the rear bench is mounted 6.5 centimetres further back, which leaves space for more legroom. “The new Citroën C3 Aircross was designed to be compatible with seven people on board. And when you design a silhouette that’s spacious enough for seven, you inevitably propel the 5-seater version to the top of the category in terms of row 2 space and boot volume,” explained Thierry Blanchard, Product Manager for the C3 Aircross.

In the electric version, the ë-C3 Aircross has a towing capacity of 350 kilograms, which is probably only suitable for a rear bike rack rather than a trailer. The combustion engine version can tow up to 1,250 kilograms.

In Germany, the base price for the purely electric version is 26,490 euros. This includes the basic ‘You’ equipment, in which Citroën dispenses with its own infotainment system and instead installs a “smartphone station”. The French market will see the hybrid variant start from 25 500 euros and 27 400 euros for the Electric variant. In the ‘Max’ version, there is a 10.25-inch touchscreen for the infotainment – including wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto. The Stellantis brand has not yet stated how much the ‘Max’ version will cost.
