2024 Wuling Binguo launched in China with minor updates
The design of the Wuling Binguo hasn’t changed for the 2024 model year, as it is still quite fresh from its introduction in February 2023. The new model is available in several variants, whose names also helpfully point out the variant’s range: The 203 km Light, 333 km Enjoyment, 333 km Lingxi Connected, and 410 km Lingxi Premium configurations, cost 56,800 yuan (7,303 euros), 70,800 yuan (9,103 euros), 74,800 yuan (9,618 euros), and 84,800 yuan (10,904 euros), respectively.
The Wuling Binguo has gained a Snow Mountain White paint option in the 203 km Light configuration with the MY2024 update. For the 333 km Enjoyment, 333 km Lingxi Connected, and 410 km Lingxi Premium configurations, there’s a new, nature-inspired Skyclave Green interior colour option. Moreover, these configurations share a new, water-cooled flat-wire motor that’s smaller and lighter than the previously used motor.
The new motor has better heat dissipation and offers a 0.8 kW/kg increase in power density. It produces the same, 50 kW of system power but allows a higher (+10 kph) top speed of 130 kph. The 203 km Light configuration carries over the 30 kW motor, which allows a top speed of 100 kph. However, in the 2024 Wuling Binguo, this configuration offers more convenience than the previous model, thanks to the addition of DC fast-charging support. Charging up from 30 to 80% SoC takes just 35 minutes.
The 2024 Wuling Binguo uses the same battery pack across the range as the previous model. For reference, the 203 km Light configuration has a 17.3 kWh battery pack, while a 31.9 kWh battery pack is installed in the 333 km Enjoyment and 333 km Lingxi Connected configurations, and a 37.9 kWh battery pack in the Lingxi Premium configuration.
In March, SAIC-GM-Wuling said that the Wuling Binguo has become the new benchmark in the small electric car segment, having registered 250,000 units in cumulative sales. Recent reports in the Chinese media say that number has now crossed 280,000 units. In addition to China, where it competes with the BYD Seagull, the Wuling Binguo is available in foreign markets, including Indonesia and the Philippines. In the Philippines, the small EV is called the ‘Wuling Bingo.’
