Daimler Truck sets up charging solution subsidiary TruckCharge
TruckCharge is aimed at fleet operators and industrial companies with their own or third-party truck fleets. Moreover, it is independent of the trucks’ brand, meaning that it is not only available for electric vehicles made by Daimler Truck. The manufacturer will officially launch TruckCharge in September at the IAA Transportation in Hanover, Germany.
“We want to make e-mobility simple and profitable for our customers – also beyond the purchase of electric trucks,” says Karin Rådström, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Trucks. “With TruckCharge, we are now bundling our range of solutions under one brand and plan to continuously expand the portfolio.”
In May, subsidiary Mercedes-Benz Trucks presented its ‘Depot Charging’ offer, which includes consultation, the sale of hardware and technical services, as well as financing solutions for the charging infrastructure. The strategic partner for the charging stations is Alpitronic. This offer will now become part of TruckCharge from the parent company Daimler Truck.
According to the company, the service for fleet operators is part of Daimler Truck’s comprehensive ecosystem to improve the total cost of ownership of electric trucks. Moreover, the company’s consultants can also support identifying public funding opportunities for infrastructure and vehicles. Interestingly, Scania made a similar move to Daimler Truck at almost the same time and founded Erinion, a subsidiary for charging solutions for customers.
