Atlante equips Turin Airport with charging infrastructure
Atlante will install the charging stations in six areas of the airport. The NHOA Group company has not disclosed which hardware will be used or how many AC and DC charging points will be available in each area. The press release only mentions the 19 charging points in question, with the possibility of expansion.
What is clear, however, is that the project envisages the use of canopies. Battery storage systems are also used to cope with peak load times. Furthermore, “an innovative solution to prevent the unauthorised occupation of parking spaces” will be installed. However, all passengers, accompanying persons, car hire companies and anyone else who wants to charge their electric vehicle are authorised. The charging points are also accessible to people with reduced mobility.
“Thanks to our charging stations powered by renewable energy, we will contribute to the sustainability plan of Torino Airport, offering a valuable service to all travelers, users of the airport and the surrounding community, building a mobility ecosystem that enables charging of any electric vehicle in a few minutes”, commented Stefano Terranova, CEO of Atlante.
The ‘Torino Green Airport’ plan launched by SAGAT in 2021 aims to make the airport’s infrastructure and operations more energy efficient, reduce consumption and consequently emissions, increase self-production from renewable sources or even focus on decarbonisation. Atlante’s charging infrastructure will therefore play a part in achieving the goals that have been set.
“We are happy that Atlante proves to be once again the ideal partner to support strategic infrastructures for the energy transition. Our strong presence in northern Italy and established leadership in airports make us proud promoters of sustainable mobility in the Piedmont area,” adds Gabriele Tuccillo, CEO of Atlante Italia. At the same time, the charging infrastructure operator will also increase its presence in Italy. Thanks to the agreement now concluded with SAGAT for the electrification of Turin Airport, Atlante will be represented with over 50 charging points at the most important Italian airports, including Rome-Fiumicino, Milan-Linate, Malpensa and Turin.
However, Atlante is not only installing charging points at Italian airports but will also offer charging facilities on motorways in Italy in the future. Just last month, the company won a tender from the Italian motorway operator Autostrade per l’Italia (ASPI) for the construction and operation of over 90 fast-charging points. The charging points with an output of up to 400 kW will be installed at eight service stations along the motorways managed by ASPI.
