Eleport to install charging infrastructure at 70 Carrefour locations in Poland

French retailer Carrefour has commissioned charging infrastructure provider Eleport to install over 70 charging stations at its store locations in Poland. A cooperation agreement provides for the installation of a total of over 170 charging points in 65 Polish cities by 2025.

Eleport says that work is currently underway on the administrative processes and the preparation of the individual locations for the installation of the devices at Carrefour locations in Poland. Both partners aim to put the charging stations into operation at all locations as quickly as possible, and the first charging stations are due to go into operation this year.

Neither company has provided any information on the hardware or charging capacity – only that they will be fast chargers among them. “Thanks to this partnership, we will be able to offer customers of the network in several dozen Polish cities the opportunity to charge their cars quickly during their daily shopping trip,” says Paweł Doleciński, Sales Manager at Eleport.

According to the charging infrastructure provider, it currently operates over 800 charging points in Poland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania and plans to increase this number to 1,350 by the end of this year. Not least through cooperations such as those concluded with Carrefour.

For its part, the French retailer sees the development of charging infrastructure at its sites by its partner Eleport as part of the global “Carrefour 2026” strategy, aiming to reduce the company’s CO2 emissions by 30 per cent by 2025, 50 per cent by 2030 and 70 per cent by 2040 compared to 2019.

Carrefour has entered into several partnerships in recent years. In 2021, the company announced that Allego would install more than 2,000 fast charging points for electric cars at more than 200 locations in France by 2023. Just a few months later, the French retailer announced the installation of charging infrastructure at all of its French stores. By 2025, a total of 5,000 publicly accessible charging points are to be put into operation at over 700 Carrefour stores in France. Most recently, Carrefour announced at the beginning of this year that Shell and Redevco are to install a total of around 500 charging points at Belgian locations by 2025.
