Tesla Model S still running on original battery even after over 692,000 kilometers

A Tesla Model S used as an airport taxi in England has covered 430,000 miles (approximately 692,000 kilometers) within eight years using its original battery and motors, despite intensive usage and almost daily fast charging.

Paul Curzon, owner of the model and operator of Eco Executive Travel, has shared in a video that his black Model S still has warranty coverage and he can continue to use the Superchargers for free. This is estimated to result in savings of approximately 8,200 to 11,800 euros per year. Considering this, he believes that the electric car is ideal as a taxi.

The fully electric sedan from the US automaker has been used daily as a taxi for trips to and from airports in the UK since its purchase in 2016. Due to the intensive usage, the Model S needs to be charged multiple times a day at the Superchargers, often up to a state of charge of 100 per cent. Despite this, as Curzon reports, the battery only lost about 105 kilometres of range. When new, the vehicle had a 90 kWh battery and an NEDC range of 557 kilometres.

The British Tesla owner said he has had to undertake no major repairs in the eight years of operation. Only “basic preventive maintenance” has been carried out on the Model S. Take a look at what Curzon tells AutoTrader about the vehicle and its usage:
