Atlante closes deal to bring HPC stations to Italian motorways

Fast-charging provider Atlante has won a tender from motorway operator Autostrade per l'Italia (ASPI) to install and operate 90 high-power charging points. The chargers, which will deliver up to 400 kW, will be built at eight service stations along the motorways managed by ASPI in Italy.

As for location, the partners have selected motorway service areas in Lombardy, Veneto, Tuscany, Campania and Apulia. According to Atlante, the charging stations that the company will install on behalf of ASPI will be coupled with advanced technical functions, such as a system for detecting unauthorised parking of combustion vehicles, also known as ICEing, intelligent lighting, and 24-hour video surveillance.

“Our mission is to contribute to achieving zero-emission mobility in Italy, France, Spain, and Portugal,” commented Stefano Terranova, CEO of Atlante. He added that the new deal represented “a further step after the 87 fast and ultra-fast charging points on the French highways for VINCI Autoroutes and consolidates Atlante’s position as the main independent operator in Southern Europe”.

Atlante says, it is Stellantis’ “preferred fast-charging network” since they revealed plans to build a network in Italy, France, Spain and Portugal in 2021. Stellantis reportedly aims to include over 15,000 sites with two million parking spaces across Europe by 2025. Many of these chargers will be AC stations, not just the DC charge points announced with Atlante.
