ADS-TEC becomes Porsche’s service provider for high-power chargers

ADS-TEC Energy and Porsche have signed a worldwide service agreement. The deal makes the manufacturer of battery-boosted fast chargers the "recommended and preferred service partner" for their joint charging platforms in Europe and North America.

ADS-TEC adds that the agreement includes remote services, diagnostics, and on-site support. It also builds on a longstanding partnership with Porsche dating back to 2017. ADS-TEC Energy still utilises the Porsche Engineering High Power Charger (HPC) for its ‘ChargeBox’ – a buffer battery that slowly charges alternating current from the grid and quickly releases the extra energy via the Porsche charging station. The setup facilitates fast charging in locations without a sufficiently resilient (medium-voltage) connection and without requiring a transformer station.

Under the new deal, ADS-TEC will cover the services with staff on-site in Europe and North America. Porsche runs around 500 centres in Europe, the USA, and Canada that are already using the ChargeBox for their own vehicles and have started offering their customers fast charging in the same manner, according to today’s press statement.

“The strengthening and deepening of our cooperation with Porsche, through this comprehensive international service partnership in Europe and North America, is a valuable vote of confidence in us,” said Thomas Speidel, CEO of ADS-TEC Energy.

In March, the German company reportedly appointed Renato Gross as the new Senior Vice President of ADSE Inc., ADS-TEC’s US subsidiary. Additionally, the company has installed its first ChargeBox at a residential complex in Miami.

Delivering up to 320 kW, the company says the ChargeBox can charge 100 EVs per week using two parking spaces, which would otherwise require 20 parking bays on shared Level 2 chargers.
