Valmet Automotive presents new battery system
According to Valmet Automotive, the Energy Pack offers equipment manufacturers and integrators a compact, scalable and competitively priced solution for the electrification of trucks, buses and off-highway machinery in agriculture, forestry, construction and mining. The battery system utilises the latest generation of long-life and safe NMC cells and is based on a cell-to-pack approach for a high energy density of 300 Wh/l.
“Valmet Automotive is further strengthening its position as a battery system supplier. The Energy Pack complements our own battery system offering, which provides a unique combination of performance, flexible integration and long life at a competitive price,” said Christian Kleinhans, Senior Vice President Business Unit EVS, Valmet Automotive.
The cell-to-pack approach of Valmet Automotive’s Energy Pack eliminates the need for modules by integrating the battery cells directly into the battery pack. This solution enables the most efficient use of the available space in the pack and delivers more energy from a smaller and lighter pack. As a result, the Energy Pack is easy to integrate and makes optimum use of the available space in the application.
The system is installed on a plug-and-play basis and its components can be freely and optimally positioned depending on the application, for example on the roof, in the rear area, the chassis frame or the existing engine compartment of a machine or vehicle.
The Energy Pack is optimised for applications that require high energy density, fast charging and a long service life, and serves applications from 50 to 1000 kWh capacity, with a suitable step size of 50 kWh per pack.
In addition to the Energy Pack, Valmet’s battery product family also includes the Power Pack battery system, which is optimised for applications that require high peak power, fast charging and a long service life. The Power Pack has been specially developed for demanding environments and low temperatures.
