Jeep releases the Avenger 4xe
The new Jeep Avenger 4xe is to represent a stepping stone towards the future direction of the Stellantis subsidiary, with a design strongly reminiscent of the classic Jeep models but packed with more modern technology, and a new-found respect for aerodynamics. The company even managed to retain the design of the iconic front grille. Previously standard equipment like a tow-hook fastened at the rear of the vehicle also remains.
The 2024 hybrid Avenger 4xe is powered by a dynamic 48 V hybrid system with a robust 136 hp turbo engine complemented by two 21 kW electric motors positioned both at the front and rear of the vehicle. At low speeds, the electric drive system takes over completely and supports the ICE system at high speeds with an E-boost function. The drive system’s maximum torque is set at 136 HP and the vehicle’s top speed is 194 kph, marking a ten km improvement to the previous version. Acceleration from 0-100 kph takes 9.5 seconds, while other improvements include improved off-road angles, 10 mm more ground clearance and the ability to cross water with up to 40 cm of depth.
Jeep also writes that the Jeep Avenger 4xe has an intelligent all-wheel drive system to ensure that 4×4 capability is always available. At low speeds up to 30 kph, traction is permanent on all four wheels with a 50:50 split. At medium speeds of 30 to 90 kph, the rear axle drive is only activated when required. However, the rear electric motor always remains connected to the rear wheels in case of sudden demand.
“Avenger is one of the biggest success stories of Jeep in Europe with more than 90.000 orders from final customers of which almost 30% full electric. In the wake of this success, Avenger 4xe will be the new benchmark in the ‘B- SUV’ segment, offering exclusive design, top performance, and representing the full expression of Jeep legacy on all-wheel drive,” said Eric Laforge, Jeep Europe boss.
Jeep also took the opportunity of the presentation for the Avenger 4xe to release a short teaser for the upcoming Wagoneer S, Jeep’s first fully-electric vehicle developed by the brand, which will really kick off the brand’s electrification.
The Jeep Wagoneer S will not be officially presented until the end of the month, however.
